Aston University is a research led university that prides itself on the research infrastructure it provides to its staff. Aston features in the Times Higher Education’s World top 100 under 50 universities and has an overall rank of 22nd out of 116 UK universities in the Guardian University League table. For over 20 years Aston has consistently featured in the top 10 UK Universities for graduate employability. In the National Student Satisfaction Survey in 2014, Computer Science was ranked 12th of 101 UK universities.
Aston has a strong track record in EC funded research and training programmes having participated in 4 completed ITN proposals as lead and 10 completed Intra European Fellowships. These projects have both structured academic and complementary training; much of this formal content is used across the University. Aston has significant best practice in ESR training, administered via the Graduate School and has participated in 25 nationally-funded industry-academia PhD training projects. Aston University currently leads 3 ITNs and is a partner in a further 4. Aston received 13 H2020 Marie Curie IF, 15 FP7 Marie Curie IEF in the previous 3 years.
